Mozelle's and birthday weekend

I wanted to do something special for Bill's birthday so I looked through a file I keep on places to go in NC. I had tore out a write up from Southern Living on Mozelle's in Winston Salem and it sounded yummy. The place was not fancy but it was cozy, welcoming and the service and food were excellent. The chef came out and checked on each table.    Our friends kept the kids for a few hours so we could enjoy some time just the two of us. I loved this mosaic on the wall. We shared fried pickles as an appetizer I ordered the angus cheeseburger with pimento cheese and a side of tomato bisque, Bill ordered the grilled pimento cheese and bacon sandwich with soup- we split our sandwiches and it was delicious.
After lunch we walked around and went in a few gift shops and art galleries

It was nice to have time to talk and hold hands and not be interrupted.  The kids had a blast at our friends and were disappointed when we got back to pick them up.

Sunday Bill had to work at a convention so the kids and I went to church and then worked on a special birthday dinner.  Sydney helped peel potatoes
Griffin mixed the brownies
We all chipped in and made a banner that said "welcome home and happy birthday".
The kids wanted to eat by candlelight, it was fun.  We had meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy and steamed broccoli.
Dessert was brownies with ice cream and whip cream!

It was a wonderful birthday weekend and Bill said it was one of the best he can ever remember.

Snow Day

Ice and some snow resulted in an early dismissal a few weeks ago. So the kids and I hung out at home, and we made chocolate chip cookies.
I am not sure why they are holding there hands up?
We played I spy bingo
and Sydney created hearts out of the little plastic pieces, I have no idea what they are called
I was helping her and at one point she said " mom hand over the tweezers" she is an independant girl and did not really want or need my help
it was a fun day to be at home with my little kiddos

100 days

In celebration of the 100th day of school the kids were asked to dress like they were 100 years old. This was the best we could do....
I let Sydney wear a little makeup and some old glasses of mine.  I suggested she wear a diaper but she declined.  On the way to school she told me she wished we had some makeup to give her some wrinkles, she kept scrunching her forehead to create a wrinkle but she was afraid if she did that all day she would get a headache.  She cracks us up!

Meet Theo

Meet Theo our friend's dog! He is a cocker spaniel poodle mix and he is so sweet. He is hypoallergenic and so little. I am not a dog person but he was so sweet to hold and snuggle. He has the cutest little brown nose! Sydney was in heaven holding him and snuggling.

Sick and catch up

I came down with a stomach thing last weekend and boy was I sick. I was on the couch all weekend often accompanied by a little snuggle bug boy. I did not feel like myself until Thursday so this was a very long week and I am still trying to get caught up on projects, laundry, cleaning ect. I am thankful to be feeling better again.

You are not an accident

We are rereading The Purpose Driven Life and it is very thought provoking and inspiring.  Day 2 is titled you are not an accident.  The Bible says "You saw me before I was born, and scheduled each day of my life before I began to breathe.  Every day was recorded in your Book. "

This is a poem by Russel Kelfer

You are who you are for a reason.
You're part of an intricate plan.
You're a precious and perfect unique design,
called God's special woman or man.

You look like you look for a reason.
Our God made no mistake.
He knit you together within the womb,
You're just what he wanted to make.

The parents you had were the ones he chose,
and no matter how you may feel,
they were custom-designed with God's plan in mind,
and they bear the Master's seal.

No, that trauma you faced was not easy.
And God wept that it hurt you so;
But it was allowed to shape your heart
So that into his likeness you'd grow.

You are who you are for a reason,
You've been formed by the Master's rod.
You are who you are, beloved,
Because there is a God.

Birthday party fun

Griffin's friend Cohlten had a birthday party at the bounce place a few weeks ago and they were kind enough to also invite Sydney.
The party was Cars theme and the cake and snacks were so fun!
Griffin and Cohlten sliding, it was hard to get a good picture of them because they were constantly in motion.
Sydney jumping

The kids had a great time and I stayed busy following them around!
