Zoo trip

What do you do when the weather is warm? When it hits 70 degrees in January we go to the zoo.

I love the aviary and all the beautiful flowers

we saw a real show at the gorilla area, the male was acting protective of one of the mommas and her baby- there are two babies that were born in August

then the chimps were very active and the babies were adorable

they were righ up next to the glass and they were interacting with a little chimp puppet that a little girl was holding

we had another great visit and look forward to many more when the weather is warm again

zoo times two

I took the kids to the zoo on the 22nd for a great apes program. Our zoo has two new baby gorillas both born in August.   One's name is Bomassa and the other is unnamed- the zoo is giving a sponsor the right to name the gorilla when they donate money to pay for a shelter structure for the gorillas.  Can you see the baby in this mamas right arm?

our zoo also has a new baby giraffe, Juma (I believe)

Sydney's first field trip was last Friday and it was to the zoo!  Here is her class with teacher Mrs Fearnside and assistant Ms Graham.  Sydney is in the middle back row.

Bill went with her and they had a great time.

Two zoo trips within a week of each other.  We love the zoo!

Another Zoo Trip

Mother's Day weekend we headed to the zoo, for the third time this year!

The Dinosaurs have arrived!

Griffin was rather scared, I had to explain several times that they are robots, so they can make noise, move and yes spit water!

the elephants were particularly close this visit and I could not help but notice C'sar has been at the NC zoo since the year before I was born!

who knows how many times we will go to the zoo this year but we do know that each time will be fun and enjoyable

Another zoo trip

Two weekends ago the kids and I went back to the zoo.  Bill had to work a home show so after church we got lunch and then headed to the zoo and started in Africa this time. 
We saw the elephants and the kids pretended to go on elephant safari and rode in the helicopter

they climbed on rocks

we spent a long time watching the chimps and captured some awesome moments on video (see below)

we saw the lion this time, they were hiding on our last visit

we found lemur island- which we somehow missed last trip

we checked out the flamingos

then we went in the aviary and identified all kinds of birds, plants and flowers

the flowers were so pretty

our kids were cute too
