I think this tree is rather interesting. Perhaps more interesting is the reason why the tree is bent. We walk by this tree occasionally when we go for a walk on the golf coarse. We have wondered what made this tree grow the way that it has.
While Sydney and I were studying trees and reading a few books we learned a possible explanation. Do you have any guesses?
A probable explanation is that another tree may have fallen on this tree as it was growing and so this tree grew around the fallen tree which then decomposed. This was discussed in Crinkleroot's Guide to Knowing the Trees by Jim Arnosky.
Sydney was trying to not slide down this tree!
We continued our walk on the course and Sydney loved running through the bunkers!
She looks so little on the big fairway.
