While at the beach for a week we scheduled a date night. Since we shared a condo with my friend Val and her husband they watched our two one night and the next night we watched their son while they went out. No one had to pay a sitter and we all had a nice break.
Bill and I rarely go out to eat, with him working most evenings so we went to dinner at Carrabba's. We ate great food, shared a bottle of wine and talked about all kinds of things. We reflected on the last time we ate at Carrabba's which was exactly 1 year prior when we were at the beach for the same conference. The big difference was a year ago I was pregnant with Griffin and Sydney was with us and sat in a high chair. It would seem so odd to put her in a high chair now, she is such a big girl. We talk about work, the week so far, goals, our relationship, our kids and more.
We were in no hurry to eat or to leave the restaurant. It was so enjoyable to take time to eat and have a conversation. A rare treat!
When we left the restaurant we stopped at a Krispy Kreme and each had a doughnut and got a coffee to go. We went back to the condo and parked our car and then went for a long walk on the beach. There were fireworks in the distance and it was cool and windy. We had a fabulous date night. Hopefully it will not be a year before we go on a date again.
